Victorian Diversity iAward aligns with #TechDiversity

We are delighted to announce that the inaugural Diversity iAward (Victoria), to be presented on Thursday 15 June as part of the Australian Information Industry Association’s (AIIA’s) Victorian iAwards program, will be closely aligned with the 2017 #TechDiversity Awards.

The AIIA’s annual iAwards honour the best and most innovative ICT solutions in each state or territory, with winners and merit recipients going on to the National iAwards.

Following longstanding support of initiatives to embrace diversity in the Victorian community, and specific commitments made during 2016, the Victorian Minister for Innovation, the Hon Philip Dalidakis, will launch the inaugural Diversity iAward at next week’s AIIA’s Victorian iAwards presentation evening.

The establishment of this award recognises the importance of diversity to innovation and the digital economy. It will celebrate innovations that either:

  • Address a particular component of prejudice and/or diversity within our community, or
  • Develop innovation within an environment that embraces and demonstrates active support for diversity.

The Diversity iAwards nomination questions and judging criteria are aligned with those of the #TechDiversity Awards – diversity initiatives will be assessed according to behaviours, leadership, commitment, courage and outcomes. All nominations for the Diversity iAward will automatically be entered into the list of nominees for the #TechDiversity Awards.

This is fabulous acknowledgement of the growing recognition and leadership achieved by the #TechDiversity Awards in just our second year. (Direct nominations for the #TechDiversity Awards are open until 23 June. Submit via the website.)
